Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with performances like these.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
