Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
