Followers Demand Arrest of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are calling for that a person who breached a fence and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared clip depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet flanked by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the event by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being detained", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile features videos of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney performance in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user wrote.
Fans Voice Worry Over the Star's Past Trauma
Many fans blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented another comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also questioned security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande seemed shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had congregated in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
