Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
