Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to strengthen its aerial protection systems. The first three manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more preparing to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Combat Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created technology called “Octopus” designed to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Assault on the Capital Described as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and brutal” following six individuals lost their lives and dozens wounded in a wave of night-time strikes across Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in Kyiv shortly after midnight on Friday, with Shahed drones quickly heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended crude shipments on Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to diminish the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

Global Restrictions Affect Russian Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil announced this past Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its international holdings after last month’s sanctions from Western nations and failure of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal will be announced after the final agreements are completed and required authorizations are secured,” the company commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with parliament members a day after his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. Zelenskyy would meet deputies from both chambers of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement confirmed.
